Abstract
This thesis offers a counter-labor imaginary conceived of the worker’s demands for ethical labor conditions in the Persian Gulf area.
In the first part of my thesis, I analyze the migrant workers' working conditions that lead to the causality, which are heat stress, long work hours, limited access to drinkable water, and high work intensity. Human body discomfort under the climate in the Persian Gulf area is also studied to understand the cause of heat stress.
In the second part, an innovative scaffolding system is proposed to concern worker body comfort and safety. The system uses passive cooling strategies such as ventilative cooling and evaporative cooling strategy to create microclimate zones to meet the desirable working condition for workers in their workplace.
